Hello All,
Due to the continuing problems with COVID-19 pandemic and in keeping with the guidelines issued by the province of Onatrio and the department of health, we are regretfully cancelling our picnic slated for June 27, 2020 at Hamilton’s Confederation Park. Last year we invited the Pilipino Canadian Association of Hamilton to join us. We had a great time and fun at the event. We had lots of food, dessert, karaoke, line-dancing and of course we had our bi-yearly election.
We elected 2 new officers. Sylvia Tallud became our PRO. Fiona Dans-Sosa was chosen as the Vice President for Scarborough-Toronto. Ben Bernardo became Vice-President for Hamilton and Novalyn Jadear became Vice-President for Mississauga. The treasurer position went to Vi Fernandez while Chong Saavedra remains as Auditor. Beng Molina serves as Secretary while Ric Arat assumed the Sargent-at-Arms. Our Advisory Board attendees (past Presidents serves in the Advisory Board) included our Centenarian, Mr. Ramon Barrios who remains actively involved in some capacity. Mike Saavedra, Maricor Nery, Junie De Vera, Art De Vera rounded out the Advisory Board. I remain President for another term. Aida D’Orazio and Bill Quebral were not able to make it to the picnic.
The picnic was held at Confederation Park in Hamilton, on July 13, 2019. This year there would have been a much bigger crowd as we partnered with Philippine Islander Cultural Association of Hamilton (PICAH) a much bigger group. I have a video of the event below authored by my personal assistant, Jung Aberilla. Hope you enjoy it.
Stay safe this summer. Thank you.
Cris Aberilla, President, Zamboanga Hermosa Canada
